NEW MEMOIR “IMPRESARIO OF CASTRO STREET” WITH A MULTIMEDIA HAPPENING

This special presentation will be a festive celeb-ration with readings from Huestis’ memoir by a stellar cast including Poseidon Adventure star Carol Lynley, comic Bruce Vilanch, local lights Helen Shumaker, Matthew Martin, Jan Wahl, Lawrence Helman, Dan Nicoletta, Beaver Bauer and surprise guests. There’ll also be rare archival chestnuts from Huestis’ ’70s stage appearances, clips from his films and Castro extravaganzas, and snippets from Lauretta Molitor’s upcoming documentary on Huestis entitled Impresario.

Huestis’ book covers 45 years of San Francisco gay history starting in 1974 working with the fabled theatre group Angels of Light, his volatile relationship with Harvey Milk, co-founding Frameline (now the oldest and largest LGBTQ Festival in the world), creating first generation AIDS docs in the ’80s and ’90s including his award-winning Sex Is…, and producing over two decades of legendary Castro extravaganzas feting such stars as Debbie Reynolds, Ann Miller, Jane Russell, Karen Black, Patty Duke, and John Waters.

Following the Frameline event there will be a booksigning at Manny’s, 3092 16th St. @ Valencia (a block away from the Victoria).

Impresario of Castro Street, a trade paperback with a plentitude of B&W photos is $19.95. A special full color edition is $29.99. A Kindle edition is $9.99.
